From The Gowdie Family Wealth (AUSTRALIA)-
The author’s frank admission that ‘nearly half of Americans would have trouble finding $400 to pay for an emergency… [and that he’s] one of them’ lays bare the financial problems that are hidden from view.
Problems dealt with behind closed doors. Not spoken about openly because these families do not conform to the stereotype of those who occupy Struggle Street.
This may sound like a very odd admission, but I fully realize that I’m only one or two bad decisions away from being the subject in that story.
That statement is not a flippant attention grabber. It’s a genuinely held belief. There are plenty of ‘penthouse to the outhouse’ stories as a result of bad investment choices, poor business decisions, a toxic relationship, problem children, litigation, mental health issues, misplaced trust, fraud…the list goes on.
