What Trump’s Meteoric Rise Really Means

21.07.2016 • Politics and War

From the Port Phillip Insider (Australia) –

He’s done it.

Or at least, he’s done part of it.

Donald Trump is the Republican nominee for US president at this year’s November election.

It’s an extraordinary rise. Despite his wealth, no one expected that Trump would get this far. Certainly not with his comments about building a wall to separate the US from Mexico.

And not with his supposedly sexist and offensive comments about some women in the past (most notably, Rosie O’Donnell).

And not with his habit of…how can we put this…speaking his mind.

Trump has defied everyone. He took a ‘nothing to lose’ attitude into the nomination process. At the first televised Republican debate, he was the only candidate who didn’t agree to not run as an independent if he didn’t get the Republican nomination.

He had a public spat with the Fox News cable channel, and particularly with star host, Megyn Kelly.

But things appear to have changed on that front. As we watched Fox News from our Washington DC hotel room over the weekend, one of the hosts (Sean Hannity) didn’t appear to have any problem with talking up the Trump candidacy.

Now all Trump has to do is beat Hilary Clinton. Most expected Clinton to be the Democratic nominee. No one expected Trump to be the Republican nominee.

We usually don’t pay too much attention to politics, but this is something too delicious to resist.

By this time next year, President Trump could be a reality. How exciting!
