Are you old enough to remember the ‘Dismissal’ in 1975?
Even if you’re not, you’ve surely heard of it.
The Governor-General, Sir John Kerr, acting on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II, ‘sacked’ the democratically elected Gough Whitlam.
The ‘Dismissal’ is both one of the most famous and infamous episodes in Australian political history.
The question is, do you know the background to Whitlam’s dismissal? Do you know the players involved in the ‘Dismissal’, and do you know their motives?
Importantly, just how much of the ‘Dismissal’ was purely domestic Australian political drama, and how much — if any — was the result of external (read, foreign) political interference?
Many view the recent election of Donald Trump as the next US president as the most shocking political event of the past 50 years.
The reality is that the ‘Dismissal’ was far more shocking, and far more unprecedented. Next week, in a first for Port Phillip Publishing, we’ll publish an expose revealing what we believe to be the real story behind the ‘Dismissal’.
It’s an event you must NOT miss. Stay tuned for details…
