The scariest novel that I ever read was George Orwell’s 1984. It’s a dystopian novel that narrates the story of a totalitarian state that has absolute control over every action and thought of its people through omnipresent government surveillance, systematic public manipulation, propaganda, and harsh punishment.
I’m not saying that we are living the Orwellian political nightmare. We’re miles, miles away. But the world seems to be heading in that direction.
Policy makers and central bankers across the world are taking extreme measures to curtail cash transactions in the name of fighting crime, terrorism and tax evasion.
Remember, even the noblest of government intentions have major side-effects. And this experiment to control people’s money is alarming. It’s time you wake up before it’s too late. Do you know about the boiling frog syndrome?
